Default Terragen Anyone?

Anyone here familiar with Terragen? Anyone use it or want to know how to?

The Pic's look great. But I 'm not sure of a use for it other than movies (if possible) or Desktop backgrounds for the non-perverted. I really don't think there's alot of them around here though.

I've used it before, in conjunction with 3dS. Never actaully used it for the movie, but we've got some cool clips of stuff flying around places.

Good terrain renders are handy for backgrounds(as noted), as well as reflection maps, and overlay fillers (white space doth suck).

Never used Terragen or any other such 3D programs, but I suggest that if you're serious about working with them, track down a good book for it. I like the Wiley books myself, they're in-depth and very well indexed.

The reason I asked is because I have some tutorials on how to use Terragen. Was going to post if there was interest.

Go ahead and post them Foe, the forums will be better off by having them in our collection...make sure it's properly labeled and placed in the graphics forum though. The one thing I hate about Terragen is the simplicity. I guess i'm not a fan of programs that have a quick learning curve or just use plugins and scripts to do their modeling.

I've been using terragen for a couple years now. Mostly to create skyboxes for my custom maps for FPS. Red Faction, Soldier of Fortune and Call of Duty thus far. Took me a little time to get used to it, but it's handy.

Wow! Red Faction?! That used to be one of my favorite games. Ran a server and did some mapping/skyboxes too. One of the tuts I have is for making a skybox.
