As much as I love Gimpy, and Undergrads alike, I'm just not feeling my current signature too much.

So, I got bored here, and it's almost 5am so I whipped up something else. As the former poll from me went, I'd like for you to rate my signature, so I can have some feedback on how you feel about it.

Simple enough? I suppose.

Here's the new signature:

its like a miniature desktop wallpaper, with nothing special to make it a "signature", you might as well crop it down to the name since the rest of it does nothing but exist just to be there...

adding something to it, a ghosted image of some taco supremes, some dude with a mullet getting his face rocked, or pantera....that would make it a sig, because its actually trying to say something...

the one you have now is leaps and bounds better than the new one....

I think you have a gift when it comes to polished subtlety in designs -- which IMO is the biggest thing that distinguishes amateurs from pros.

For signatures, though, the new one's a bit too subtle for me. With a little more work, it could be just right though. Here's a quick attempt at making it slightly less subtle (I don't think this one's right either; I still like your Gimpy one better):



I think Fu3l's got a good suggestion -- something that added meaning would go a long way.

What I like about your existing one is

• It matches your avatar. Not only in the illustrations, but also in the colors used.
• It's distinctive without being overpowering
• Your name on it is bigger and easier to read. When reading through a thread, I often don't look over to see who wrote the post, but rely on the sig instead. I like when the name's easily readable (as you can tell from my over-the-top sig ).

i prefer the gimpy one too, but funkyfresh is on to something his changes to that sig look really good imo

I like the new one better but FF is better still because the name is bigger and stands out more

I like FF's re-make attempt better than the original one, name stands out more which I like.

I guess I'll keep rocking the Gimpy one for now, until I can muster up something a little better. FF and Fu3l, you've both received rep from me for your insight. It's greatly appreciated.

The thing is, I may not be new at graphic design and all that, but I am new at making signatures. Most of my work was LiveJournal icons, Web layouts, etc. and some wallpapers and whatnot. Just basic digital work of the sort. As it stands, this is the fourth signature I have made in my life. Heh. Not to mention, this is the first forum I've ever actually avidly been on (on a day-to-day basis).

I guess I'll be back with another thread in the next couple weeks or so.
