I made a nice logo for my company in my computer graphics class and wanted to make my site more "mature". My old site, the way it was, is here. My current design, still working on, is here. Obviously, my first page doesn't have my final text in it. I'm not too educated on PHP, so I'm going to play around with PHP this summer. I'd appreciate your feedback. Thanks guys.

Definitely looks more professional; I'd still place the links that are on the right, into a better place like lined up horizontally somewhere on the top, bottom, whatever..

I think you have inserted the links wrong the new site is linked from the link saying here is my old site blah blah. but anyway yeah new site does kick ass looks alot better has some style, nice work.

If you're not good with raw PHP coding, have you considered a freesource engine like PHPNuke?

That said, I think the new look is definitely cleaner, but don't lose all the eyecandy.

Would it be cleaner if I had buttons on the side? I'm trying to get away from the bottons on the top/bottom.

I will look into PHPNuke, thanks. I am thinking about more eyecandy in the logo. When I designed my business card, stationary and envelopes, I had a golden/yellow smoke on them. Do you like this better?

IMHO I think it'd definitely look cleaner. As a matter of fact, I thought you just left that out there temporarily since the site is still being created (I thought it looked kinda misplaced). Perhaps there might be some way to keep the links in the location they are, but somehow make it look nicer or something, I don't know.
Just my opinion, anyway.
Also, the logo you linked in the post before this one looks better, too. Looks a bit too plain in the original one.

Having that said, keep up the good work.

Version 2.2 is now out.

I asked some friends and they also recommended the second logo aswell as some buttons for navigation. Check it out here. Only the current revision will be online, so don't worry if you click on the first link and this and notice they are the same.

Hey man, I feel your pain. I webmaster for 3 sites full time (if I count my own, www.hp07.com)

Luckily for me, I get the fun sites. Car Audio, Tattoo shops, etc etc...but yeah, I like the clean approach you're taking. I'm partial to having the links on the left as opposed to the right. I think it's because most sites are set up that way, and a lot of people get annoyed when things are "different." Other than that, keep up the work!

The clean lines are good, and I like the more sophisticated look you have taken. The banner image though seems to be missing something. If you would like I could try to play with it a bit to see what I can come up with?

Keeping in mind that you wanted to use most all of the original image you had before, I have made few changes. Also the idea that hp07 had for the mints was an excellent suggestions. Thanks hp07!

So taking all this into consideration, here are the few results. Let me know what you like, don't like, etc. I will then see what I can do to make any changes, if any.

Whoo hoo! I'm feelin' PICKY! LOL

Foe: I like the bottom left idea, but I'd probably get rid of the mints on the corners, move "Web Design" to the left a bit and up just a hair (don't you love it when I get all technical?). Then use your mints to have a 4-5 piece pile kind of spilling over the bottom border. Looks great though! Just my penniless thoughts...
