| I want to surprise my mom with a new logo for her website for her birthday in vector graphic form so she can resize and whatnot before saving the raster image for posting on the website. Her current one is quite pixelated and makes for a less than professional image, IMO. And as an author, her image can be part of her success. If you want to see the logo I am refering to, go here: http://windlegends.org/intro.htm Perhaps we could work out a trade or "gift" as compensation? The main logo image is tiled on the border side with the background but would be easy to crop out for a reference picture to go by. | ||

| I can refer you to some graphic design forums .... would that help? I'll gather the ones I know who would be more than willing to help you out. If yes, give me a few hours, school is teh suck. | ||

| I have graphic arts experience from working in the printing industry, but Illustrator was always my weakest link in that field as I never had to use it much and thus forgot what I learned shortly thereafter. All I really want to do is to convert the image she uses now to vector format with the same colors and everything. I have Illustrator 7 around here somewhere, but it would take me MUCH longer than someone that is experienced in it. | ||

| Argh, I had a very good tutorial for converting an image to Vector format in PS .... I'll hunt for it and find it. here are some automatic vector "tracing" programs that will convert your image into a vector. http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/bitmaptovector/ Hope it helps GF. | ||

| Many thanks teh_spazz, it turns out I already have a program that will do this fairly easily according to one of the articles. Macromedia Flash has a trace capability that seems to work pretty well. Even if it isn't as good as I want, at least I learned something new, and surely the answer is in there somewhere among those links. | ||

Well godfoot, if you're anything like me, you're much better creating a path in photoshop than Illustrator. Simply trace all the lines in photoshop and export the path to Illustrator to fill. Piece o' cake.

Yeah, but that piece of cake would taste much better if I had a graphics tablet. My mouse drawing/tracing skills leave a lot to be desired. Not to mention very time consuming and eye straining. Thanks for the suggestion though, if all else fails I will likely end up going that route.
