Default HDDs for DV editing

Seems I get to design a system of video editing stuff...
the computers are MACs though, and im going to go with G4s
I have everything else priced out, but what speed HDDs are used in video editing? im looking at around 240GB here.
Do I need special drives to work with macs?

This is the only part I don't know about... plz help.

On a PC, 7200 RPM is the minimum and it captures just dandily. I don't really know if anything's different for Mac's but I'd imagine if it comes with firewire inputs they'd put a nice enough Hard Drive. It's not like anybody really uses firewire for anything else.

Oh yeah... im lookin at about $4000 per station:
Computer
Moniter
Storage
...there was something else... I forget what.
VTRs and broadcast moniters weren't included in the 4000 I think... might have been software. Ill check back tomorrow with the actual specs on what I have so far.

ha, a DVCAM VTR costs more than the rig its self. i think most video editing setups use a external firewire array for storage. unless your doing heavy duty HD rendering then its SCSI or fiber channel.
