| Well, I thought I'd share Lyquid and I's latest idea. We are both in the learning phases of 3dsmax6. I''ve taught myself everything i know..which isn't much. And taught lyquid what I know, and now he is learning on his own. He had the idea to make a couple low-poly paintball dudes and have a little duel to illustrate the use of an invention that Lyquid came up with. I showed him how to box-model a basic human character, and he started right away. I'll get him to post his sketches of his "paintballer" in here later. I'm just going to post up my paintball guy that I modeled the other night. This guy took about 6-7 hrs straight. No sleep either. hehe. Now i'm just working on his clothes and so on. The ENITRE body is one editable mesh, and I'm UVW mapping his entire body with one map. This saves a heck of alot of space, and it's more proffesional than having too many maps. I'll update as soon as I get his various articles of clothing done and mapped. OOOOOOhhh I just had a GREAT idea. If any of you PS junkies want, i can send you the skin for you to paint!! you could use mine as a template and just paint over it!!! Oh man that would be so rad. PM me if anyone is interested. and now...PAINTBALL MAN!!! (great name huh?) -DC p.s. his entire body/arms/legs/ is only 842 polygons!! This is vry decent, and prolly could be even better, the models that shipped with QUAKE THREE were like 500 or something ungodly like that. | ||

| dude that's really cool! What you should do is put a PR logo on the jersey!! That could be wicked cool. And then maybe you could do a CONCOR logo for your upcoming website! I'd love to have one of those skin templates..i'll paint one up! Keep up the good work man! -DECOG | ||

| Thats really good!!! How do you know how many polys it has? And what is a poly one of the little openings between the mesh? I know they are the little triagnles that make up a pic but where are they in that pic? I would help ya out on the painting but im not the greatest in PS, Jinx up there pwnz at PS send it to him!!! | ||

In that picture, each opening in the mesh is consisted of two polys. Two tris. i work in quads, cause it's just easier for me. Try to think of it in terms of basic geometry. How many points define any plane? Word, three points to a plane, therefore any face can be broken down into tris. Thanks guys! I'm working on the animation part dont worry. I am learning physiqueing right now, and boy is it a pain in da arse!! Specially self taught, it sure would be nice if I had someone over my shoulder..."do this" "dont do that". And so on. My one roommate is taking this in school right now..and they dont even teach him how to set it up!! they just are teaching him how to animate it once it's been configured. so he's no help. | carbon graphite owns as he knows his autoc0ckers.........nice eye man. good work DC.....cant wait to animate an entire 3 on 3 game. as for needing a pic of one nope he doesnt......ive got one right here (we are roomies) my baby a tricked 99 model works like a dream.....DOWN WITH ELECTROS.....whats that?....youre scared to play in the rain wussies?......MUHAHHAHAHHAA!!!!! | Thanks guys, thanks M3-two. I'm aware of the lack of front pneumatics..didnt get there yet...that dang gun is already at 1200 polys!!! It's approaching twice the P count of friggin model! It's looking as though it's all in the barrel/hose/expansion chamber. W'ell see what i can do with it. Those 'c0ckers' are just stand-ins for now. Lyquid and I will work out whats going down in detail later. Studio max 6 is CAKE. Modeling that characer was the easiest thing ever. It's a program really made for artists though, as it's not as great to use for extremely accurate ACAD type 3d models. formZ is better for that, or solidworks or even rhino, Alias, pro-E blah blah blah. Anyway I'll update soon, i've been working really hard getting the vertices assigned to bones and stuff, i'll have updates shortly. and lyquid POST YOUR SKETCHES! -piece EDIT: forgot to answer the question onthe arms...yeah they are skinny but so are mine!! so backoff! j/k Since i'm already on the UVW stage i dont feel like re-scaling anything, so i'm just gonna leave em.
