Question 4th gig of ram on vista

i just insalled me 4th gig of ram into my pc for vista.
turn it back on and it shows i have 4 gigs but no sound
i run a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
please help

I'm assuming it was running at the less than 4 gigs?
I'm also going to assume that you checked that you didn't unseat the card during RAM installation.
After that, do you have vista drivers from Creative?
Have you called Creative support?

Like he suggested i have accidently knocked my video card the tinyest bit outta place and it didnt work and another time i broke a capacitor off OOPS o well it was on an older pc so i was fine with it!!

First thing I would have done, is drop back down to whatever ram setup you had before the 4GB's and see if your sound comes back? And then check the other stuff they guys above posted about.


OOPs wasn't watching and didn't realize this thread was a little old. LOL

This issue has been around for a little while with vista and creative sound cards there seems to be a issue with certian drive with the creative sound card with anything above 3gb of ram is install with the sound card wit cause it not to work. here is a fix but its not brillant: DriverHeaven.net - View Single Post - YouP PAX series modded drivers

and as far as i am a aware creative don't seem to be doing much about it
