how do you delete a 2nd operating system? its apperently on the same partition. im talking about when you first turn to computer on, and the the black screen that comes out asking when os to boot to. im trying to make that go away. i already deleted the other window's system files. are there hidden files to delete or something?

You need to edit your boot.ini file. The most fool proof way is to open msconfig and click the "boot" tab. Select the entry you want to remove, click delete. Then click apply and reboot. Voila!

Here's a article from Microsoft that describes another method of editing your boot.ini. How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP

Yep Clown hit it on the head. I had a botched dual boot once with XP and 64-bit XP, and the 64-bit crapped out. But oddly, the boot.ini still tried loading 64-bit, so I had to edit the .ini file via msconfig. Very handy tool.
