| Not sure if this the right place to ask this so here it goes, Ok this might be a simple question for those of you that run XP Pro, my question is when your pc is booting up and gets to the part where ether you click on putting your password and username in to finish booting up or just click on username which is the way i got mine setup where the password is already saved right now, what i like to know is there a way to by pass all the sign in process and have it go straight to my desktop with out typing or signing in my username and password. | ||

I think you need to have it so that your account is the only account. Not sure though as I use the other method of signing on.

Thanks FeRaL for your help not sure what i did, but got it to work and by pass the sign in process there was a account that was in there that i deleted that was not being used and so after i deleted the account that was not being used and restarted my PC it went right by the sign in process right to my desktop, it is weird how you find things after you ask questions on your own.

You can enable this with multiple accounts by accessing the user accounts 2 window, but it isn't enabled by default, theres a run command you can use to get to it...but I can't seem to remember or google the answer out.

| Apex Techie Lite | For what it's worth, here is another way to go about doing this when you have more than 1 user account, but want to auto login with only one. In regedit go to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\C urrentVersion\Winlogon and change value for AutoAdminLogin=1, DefaultUserName=*whatever your account name is* DefaultPassword=*password for this account* You may need to create the password key. From this point forward, if you wanted to switch accounts, just let it boot up into the default and then choose log off. Or, while the computer is booting, about the time you see the Windows XP splash screen, hold down the shift key and this will bring up your windows login prompt. Good luck. | |
