How are they installed? Are they both on the same HD/partition? Did XP install over ME? If they're on the same partition do you have two different Windows folders? (ie: WINNT and Windows)

If you did it correctly you should be able to choose which OS you wish to boot from Rust.

Like Cre asked, is each OS installed on its own partition/drive?
Or did you install/upgrade Xp right over WinMe?

You don't have to upgrade the existing install when installing to the same partition, it'll just ask if you want to install to a different directory. The problem there is that they both keep similar files in the root.

If they're on seperate partitions and you've modified the boot.ini correctly then you may wanna try rebuilding the MBR (Master Boot Record).

Unfortunately it's not Mac OS 9... you can't just rename the OS's folder and have everything run fine.... sorry to hear about the trouble.

133 MHz is the minimum requirements for XP, wow amazing if it works. Our school has nothing but Slot 1 and 2 Compaq 300-500's, even the server is a dual 550. My first rig had a 450 in it and at the time that was the shiznit, our scholl was running AutoCAD R14 on Pentium 200's

You know your school is ghetto when they're putting XP Pro on 133 MHz, havent they heard of the term overclock guess not.

233MHz/64MB is the bare minimum to install I can't believe you have XP running on a 133

Well chrome, renaming didnt help, XP has officially taken over.

yup...looks to be that way...oh well...she has a better OS now

There IS a way to get ME back, but it involves a lot of jumping through hoops (which may or may not be on fire)

yeah i talked to her today before i left to come to work, and she said that she likes the "way it looks" and "it's cute". OMG, i never thought XP as cute..... but for going back to ME, no i told het it was all lost, but i will say one thing... for ME that had to be the best running ME box i had ever seen. the last time it was shut down was about 4 months ago when i added another 64 mb stick of PC133. been running ever since, no errors, nothing. just kept on running and running. dont know how ir why, but maybe that was the build of ME that actually could be considered an OS....wait did i just say what i think i said? please ban my OS install priveledges for a month. i think i am getting sick.......

Could pick up a copy of XP Home dirt cheap.... I know it's nothing any of us would ever run, but I don't think she'd ever know the difference. That way she can still run here 9x apps

I got XP Pro to fly on my buddies Pentium2 266(Overclocked to 400, on 100fsb) w/ 160megs ram. Its faster than my other friends PIII Celeron 400(66mhz fsb) w/128megs ram..hehe

XP home is the same as Pro. Less feautures, still built the same on the NT kernel. So if a 9x program wont work in XP pro, it wont work in home.
