| Apex Techie II | Yo J-Dogg, What, your bios doesn't have this feature??? ASUS (and other motherboard manufacturers) have this option available in bios. Either way, you got 2 options here... 1) You CAN use MBM5 to cause auto shut down if temp gets excessive. In MBM5, simply go to the temperature tab, select your cpu sensor, then select the alarm section and go to the "when alarm goes off start application" and select the shutdown application. Select shutdown application by browsing to: C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe . This is the path for SHUTDOWN.EXE if you are using WinXP. If you are using other OS then do a search for SHUTDOWN.EXE and then browse to it like above. 2) Or you can CREATE a Shutdown icon on your desktop for other personal use and then browse to that. Create icon steps: Right click on the desktop Click [New] [Shortcut] to open the Create Shortcut Wizard Type [shutdown -r -t 00] without the brackets. Click [Next] and type a descriptive name of your choosing for the shortcut Click [Finish] (or simply browse to SHUTDOWN.EXE, create shortcut and drag and drop onto desktop). | Apex Techie II | By the way, I forgot to point out that WHEN your cpu overheats...the FIRST things to go is software...it starts to malfunction. MBM 5 is software and so may become unreliable/unstable when you need it most...ie: when it needs to shutdown your machine due to high temps. BIOS solutions are not affected. I suggest that you give yourself a margin of error when setting your max temps to avoid this situation from occuring. Jasper | |

| Apex Techie II | Not to beat a dead horse, but, Included in MBM 5 is a link to a shareware program called SHUTDOWN. MBM 5 has built in support for this program. http://www.dworld.de/shdnintern.htm This program has many options and even sends an email to whatever address you like to notify you of the temp situation. Your post, after all is titled "need name of a program"...so that's it and that's all. Jasper | |
