| Here is a guide I compiled from different websites and forums abut how to make your experience with Vista better. I tested all parts of this guide on Vista Beta2 and the new Pre-RC1 that was released to the public earlier this morning. The guide will most likely work without hitches on RC1 and other future releases, but if not I will update this guide. Fixing jumpy page scrolling under Aero (Some of you may get this, some may not) Follow these simple steps. 1: Press the Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box. 2:Type “regedit.exe” and press OK. 3.If User Account Control prompts you to allow the action, click Continue. (We will get rid of this annoying feature later in the guide) 4.Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop. 5.In the right hand side, look for the REG_SZ value “WheelScrollLines”. 6.Double click on the REG_SZ value and modify its value from “3” to “2”, or “1” (Whatever you feel works best) and click OK. 7.Close out of registry editor and log of windows and back in. Enable the hidden "Aurora" boot screen Follow these steps. 1.Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box. 2.Type "msconfig.exe" and press OK. 3.If the annoying User Account Control window pops up click continue. 4.Navigate to the boot tab 5.Check the box that says "No GUI Boot", Press OK 6.Close out of msconfig and reboot. Disable User Account Control (Annoying crap) 1.Go to control panel 2. Click on the green title of "User Accounts" 3.Click on “Turn User Account Control on or off”. 4.If you get the UAC permission pop up box, simply click continue as always. 5. Uncheck “Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer” 6. Click ok then reboot your PC Disable DEP (Data Execution Protection, AKA more annoying crap that gets in the way of doing your work) 1. Open a command prompt in Administrator Mode, by going to accesories and right clicking on Command Prompt and selecting "Run As Administrrator" 2.At the prompt, type or paste the following without the quotes, “bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff”, press enter and you will see a message stating "Operation Completed Successfully”. 3.Close out of the command prompt and reboot your PC How to launch the Flip3D window switcher with a keyboard shortcut. Press Windows Key and Tab, then use directional arrows to cycle through your windows. That's all for now, I will likely be adding more in the future though. I haven't experienced this, but following the steps in my guide to disable UAC should do the trick. ![]() | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

Oddly enough it turned my Laptop upside down within a day. I was chatting on IRC, next thing I know, it randomly reboots and is now in a loop of BSOD's referring to a USB driver, I found it amusing considering I don't use any USB devices. Oh well, at least I still have Linux on another partition.

| Nice guide EC, you may want to add that when you press the Win key+Tab you can also use your mouse wheel to flip through your open windows, which is much easier than using the directional arrows ![]() EDIT: Had to get some footage, I can't stop playing with it! Hehehe, just installed Steam, can't believe HL2 M and CS:S work flawlessly!Last edited by Dex; 10-September-06 at 08:35 AM.. | ||

Yes, I was stating that you can also use the mouse wheel to flip through windows. You only mentioned directional arrows in your guide.
