on my redhat linux whenever i hear the cd drive go frooooom a window pops up thats like the cd drive in windows but called "file:/mnt/cdrom", is there a way to avoid this?

Your saying that after the drive scans it shows it contents?
and you don't want it to do this?

Found it!
Hit the start button like thing and click preferences. (If some1 could enlighten me on what the start button thing is called )

Hit CD Properties

uncheck open file manager for newly mounted CDs
