Default This has to go away

Hullo. i have a friend who cant kill messneger. he tries to close it, but cant because it is running with other programs. i searched the foruns, had him send me his Sysoc.ini file and removed the hid part. Saved the file, went to add/remove components, but mseeneger wont show up. I guess the issue is that it needs to be closed first?.

I dunno. basically, what Im asking is 'How do i walk a n00b through getting rid of mseeneger?' I guess I should mention he uses AOL (sickening, aint it?) for his dialup. so maybe that is interacting w/ messenger? I dont know.

ANY help would be awesome. Heres his sysoc.inf file

installing sp1 makes MSN a non vital component,
but run msconfig and uncheck all the msn messenger startup stuff.

if it is MSN messenger then go into the directory from which it opens (mine is C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger) and rename the main exe to anything but the originol name and windows will try to find it but wont be able to so it wont open, thats how i did mine. worked great
