Question DUAL display programs?...

Does anyone know of any programs that actually work with dual-monitors? I mean two separate displays, not just 2 monitors of the same display. And not windowed programs like explorer or winamp or something--I'm more looking for screensavers or games or other software that actually support dual-display setups.

Photoshop does, I know. You can drag all of your palettes on one monitor and use the other for all workspace. I also remember in one Maximum PC RIg of the Month, some guy had 4 LCD displays and was using them for different views in flight simulator.

The flight sim I'd like to see. That would be GREAT. I'm surprised that NOBODY seems to know anything about dual-dispalys here though. I thought this would be the best place to go (it usually is). Still need help though, if anyone's got any...

grey dawg, i dont know any software that utilizes the dual display like that, I know that most people who rock the Dual Display use it to keep several rendering programs and graphics **** going at the same time, or for music stuff... I personnaly am pondering getting two LCDs for my next rig for my recording stuff and for my programming, but it would merely be cosmetic, and hardly useful

I've been trying to get BF1942 to span 2 or 3 monitors, but no dice. I think that the only option is the Parhelia card from Matrox
I don't think the performance of these cards for 3D Gaming is quite up to par, but it would probably do the trick.

"Multi-display support has proven to be one of the most significant contributions to the computer industry" That's from the Matrox website. I SERIOUSLY doubt multiple displays are THAT important! COME ON!

Cosmetic is fine. After all, most mods are based around aesthetics anyway. Having a small, extra LCD screen is nothing BUT cosmetic--it doesn't make my computing experience more efficient, just more interesting.

So...there really aren't any programs that actually utilize the dual display functionality? I suppose I didn't realize how limited dual-display is, but I'm starting to understand why many cards don't have support for multiple displays. I remember seeing in a magazine a guy who had that crappy 3D maze scrensaver across 9 monitors. Not useful, but cool. I've only found one screensaver (a matrix code display) that spreads across both monitors.

I'm still hoping someone comes up with something, so if anyone else out there uses dual-display, I'd LOVE to hear what you use it for.

Dual monitors really brings a lot to the table with multitasking, though. Being able to do two related (ie imaging) programs at the same time without having to use the task bar and stuff is nice.

Other than that, there are really no other benefits. it just looks cool, and if you have a swivel chair, you can have that matrix screensaver going and constantly tilt the chair and type really fast to look like you're an l33t h4x0r

I have seen one guy with 9 crts hooked up to one computer. It was a 3 by 3 setup, and I believe he was able to use it as a multi monitor setup for a flight sim where each monitor was a different display.

You SAW this? So...why don't you ask him how he did it?

I'm still surprised I haven't heard from anybody that actually uses multiple displays.

And yeah, I'm sure multiple displays can bring a lot to the multi-tasking table, but my point was it doesn't increase "productivity" by 50% like Matrox might like people to think.

By the way, that Matrix screensaver tat supports dual-displays is one of the crappier Matrix screensavers out there. So...I'm still looking for help if anyone has any.

Default DUAL MONITOR SCREENSAVERS - Running Separately on each monitor

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how to set up the screensaver to run independently of each monitor?

I use 2 Samsungs 730B's, one DVI, one analog, (ATI 9600 Radeon dual output graphics card)

(The way I have it setup now is that one screensaver covers both monitors, but I would like to save on the energy and pixelage burn on the second monitor if I don't happen to use it for a while.)

A great multi-monitor utility is ULTRA MON v2.6, www.ultramon.com, use it in concert w/ your graphics video card's utilities/driver specs.

Thanks,
gneyman
