filter keys

OK as you can see i just found a new part of xp that im throughly enjoying

ok so how do i disable this thing ive been playing with it for over an hour i know how to temperarily disable it but what im asking is do any of you know how to permently remove or maim this interesting feacher

my spelling sucks

Uhhh... what exactly is/are filter keys? What do they do? I wanna learn too!

Ah yes filter keys, I do hate FK with a passion. XP and 2000 and both the PRO version have this dumbA$$ feature to eliminate excesive key pressing like holding a key down or holding a CAP to long.

You really have to be carefull not to hold your keys down for very long because it actavates sticky key which in turn switchs on the whole feature. I can't really tell you how to get rid of it or how to fix it:

it takes lots of time and a clear mind. So i reccomend not screwing with it at all or just don't hold down any of your keys. This will save you much Torrment and Frustration.

**** if you'dve said sticky keys I'dve known right away. We use that thing in my electronics class to bust techno out of the internal speakers with a couple guys beatboxin on the side.

you can disable Sticky Keys in the control panel..

ok... Go to control panel... Click Accessibility Options.... Keyboard tab.... And unchk Use Sticky Keys and Filter Keys...

... This is in WinXp Pro..... Hope this helps guys...

If I remember correctly - to temporarily turn off a sticky key - you press that key a bunch of times in a row. Don't know how many times though. Sounds like you got it worked out anyways.

Under the settings, though, make sure to uncheck "Use Shortcut Key" cause it will still turn the thing on even if you use it turned off. At least under XP Home

To turn it on you tap SHIFT around 5 times and it will come up.. unless you have it disabled....
