I have windows XP Home but I still have some games that I used to play in my Old Rig that had Win 98SE as the OS. Now the games that I played on that old Rig won't run at all in XP or they'll run with errors.

The games I'm talking about are Project IGI, Mechwarrior 4 Vengence, Hitman, and The game Black & White. the system requirements for all the games are the same except Black & white, and Mechwarrior 4 Vengence. Those requirements are that Black & white, and Mechwarrior 4 Vengence will run on Win 95 all the way to Win 2000. But the rest only run from Win 95 to Win ME.

When I first installed the games they ran but where very unstable so I uninstalled them because some didn't even run at all. I was considering partioning my HDD and installing Win 98SE on that partion to be able to go into 98SE just to play those games, but that would be a pain in the ass to have to do just for games and plus it would eat up space on the HDD that could otherwise be used for something more worth while.

Then one of my friends suggested that I could still run WIn 98SE apps in XP without having to partion the HDD and install Win 98SE.

He told me to search at google for Virtual operating system emulators and that there I would find a program that would allow me to run those games within XP with no problems.

So far no luck could you guys provide a link to where I could find this program and download it so that I could run those games in XP.

Also if you know of a different way that I could do this so that I could run those games that were intended to run on the Win 95 to Win 2000 OS's on my XP OS please let me know how. Please reply as soon as possible. Thanks a lot.

I also checked all of the games websites and there are no patches that will allow these games to run in XP. On the websites it also stated that there would be no patches made to run the games on XP.

One more thing when I play Project IGI it runs but the buildings in the game can be seen through some what. For instance in the game there this barracks where enemy soldiers hide and within those barracks there are bunk beds well when I used to run the game in WIn 98SE you could never see the bunk beds pretruding through the walls of the barracks but now you can.

Also when I quit out of the game I always get an error that says "Warning 1 block of memory have not been deallocated." What the hell does that mean. Please help and thanks.

another solution would be to check the designers of the games webpages, alot of games that wee designed with WIN98 in mind, had problems running with XP since it is more like a NT enviroment, i had quite a few games that i couldnt play with XP, until i checked around and found the patches that fixed the compatibility issues it was having wth XP
