Out of curiousity, I was wonderin' if my "soon to be" Linux rig would handle a factory disk better than a burned (my CD rom in that machine is actin' up really bad).
Win98 loaded just fine, and by usin' the SIS AC97 of my MSI 745 Ultra
Mobo instead of my Live! 5.1 sound card... ALL of my old DOS games are runnin' like a champ on my 1800+ Athlon!
Games are nice and quick, no Direct X problems, or sound tweaks... no jerky visuals of stuttering voices... everything just works right off the load.
VIVA LIFE!
I'm still usin' my XP box with the hard-core hardware to run the newer stuff... but I think I'll just pull that 5.1 card and use my Athlon for 98 and Linux ops when I get my CD-RW replaced (NEVER buy Ricoh drives... they suck SO badly...)
Helluva lot easier than configuring back and forth all the time...
I'm back to playin' Shadow Warrior, King's Quest Collection, I'm gonna load up Ultima, Blood, Shogo: Armored Division, Duke Nukem: Atomic Edition, and I'm really hoping to find a copy of Zork... I really missed those puppies...
