Winblows has an update?!?!?!?!?!

well you heard it right M$ is working on a new winblows. Code named Longhorn. Im sure you have prolly heard of it and this is nothing new, but o contrare. Head over to http://www.betanews.com/article.php3?sid=1046783981 to get info on the new build. 4008 which uses WinPE, i fully graphical interface which is used to install your OS. It supposedly takes up ONLY 40mb or Ram while it installs your OS and does it in HALF the time of winxp. So head on over to check out all the new goodies in this new build vers of longhorn.

I've got 4008 running on my laptop, it's pretty sweet that they're heading the way of complete customizability, but then again, it's still windows

FeniX where did you get the 4008 build.
It still looks like xp.

Probobly will stay with windows 2000.

Fenix, What do you think of 4008 so far? Is it fairly stable. Full-featured? I'm thinking about dual-booting it on my linux box, but I'm not really sure if it'll be worth it at this stage in development.

no i dont suggest wasting your bandwidth on it. its good its got nice features, but it still has work. ive got the first build 3683 and its nice rich in features and all but they still had lots of work to do on it. i would suggest waiting till the beta vers came out and then use your bandwidth on it.

Thanks Red. I was kinda thinking the same thing. I've already got an XP rig & a Linux rig, so I prolly don't need to be messing with another OS right now. I still might have to try it in a later build, though.

Running at 2mbits per second for download, I would give it a try.

Do you know where i can getthe newest copy of it? build 4008 that is. Thanks for the help red

sorry man i cant help you cause i dont care. LOL sorry for being blunt but i havent bothered looking so i dunno. just start at google and look. thats what i did to find build 3683 it took me about an hour/hour and a half. just depends on how dedicated you are and how much time you want to spend.

why does everyone insist on coming up with stupid things like "winblows"?? tell ya what, you write an OS.. so i can make fun of your product.. as far as i see it, they have done a damn good job, and made a hell of a profit. sure, there may be bugs in some of there OS's, oh well.. there have been worse.

I think you guys are right pretty much, 4008 is fun to play around with, but if it were going to be the only other OS on a linux dual boot, I'd say go with XP instead, I've got my laptop running Win 2000, XP, Longhorn, and Redhat 8.0 just to play around on. I definately wouldn't use it as the only windows OS, just because it's an alpha
