Default Just got a new laptop and want linux

Well the laptop isnt anywhere new but it is new to me.

http://www.computingreview.com/pscHa...0_5638crx.aspx

Thats a link to it. I know it isnt great so I was thinking why not use linux? I have never used it before but I have a slackware bootable cd of it and was messin with it for a little bit. My question is where can I get a version of it where I can format the drive and install that only on the comp so I dont have to boot off cd all the time. If there are any linux gurus out there that can help please do.

If your new to linux i would stick to red hat distro or mandrake or suse.. well the new version of mandrake is sort of buggy but i would go with red hat or suse.

I would reccomend ferdora core (the free version of red hat) Very easy to install and get running.

There is also a command with knoppix to copy the files to the hard drive "fromhd=/dev/hda1"

Ive never heard someone have such a strong opinion towards linux. Im going for suse in my 2nd rig. Seems to have an easier feel to it.
