Angry Windows Search 4.0

Anyone here tried the new Windows Desktop Search for XP? If so, what are your thoughts on it? I generally like to give things a fair shot for a couple weeks before uninstalling, but this didn't last past the first use. It reminded me too much of a dumb but friendly salesperson who had no idea what you were asking for, but kept smiling and nodding. How do I search my WHOLE hard drive for a file whose name I know? Sheesh...

I thought I noticed a slow down after this got installed, and now I'm franticly trying to uninstall it on all the computers at work.

Ah the horrors of Google Desktop, I had a hard time trying to dislodge that from a coworkers computer, it just brought it to a screeching halt.

isn't that counter productive after disabling indexing in drive properties? beagle under linux and indexing under windows(both get disabled for a speed tweak)..........c'mon, just do a decent job of housekeeping and finding stuff isn't that hard.

I agree, which is why I've dumped the new Windows Search in favor of the old one. I thought I'd give the new one a shot and see if it was more powerful, but the opposite seemed to be true. I'm sure it's targeted at non-power users who scatter stuff everywhere and want to search their computer like they search the web... but when I have to reboot into Linux just to search the Windows partition, it ain't workin' for me!
