Default Right Click -> Save As...

Ok... so when I go to save a picture from anywhere, I right click, and save as. But the problem is, my Internet Explorer wants to save everything as a .bmp. How do I change that so it saves it as whatever the file should be? Like, if it's posted as a .jpg, or .gif it will save it as that?

I have the same problem and don't know what's causing it. What I do is copy and paste the image to photo shop or paint then save as what I want.

Sometimes shutting down Internet Explorer and restarting it helps. No clue as to what is actually causing it--I have the same problem every now and then, and it seems to happen at random.

You can also try saving the entire page as "web page - compete" (not *.mht), and then copying the image from the _files folder.

Clear your browsers cache, delete cookies. Have seen this problem and i believe thats a 99% of the time fix, and if not I am sure someone will tell me Im wrong

That's a common problem. Do what Ben said and it should work for you.

I was just playing around with this and found if you type .jpg after the file name it will be saved as a jpeg even though it is not in the file type drop down. I'll try Bens fix later.

NIIICE!! Clearing the history, cache, and cookies worked... but what does all that have to do with how a file is saved???

Just switch to Firefox. I haven't had that problem since I switched.

it's an alternate browser, basically a smaller version of Mozilla. you can get it from http://www.mozilla.org . I swear by it. Blocks popups, too!
