It would be verry usefull if it willl corrupt the data on your hd.. This could be used if you had something you wern't supposed to and had to get rid of it quickly...In a military situation it would be verry usefull.. Say you wrere being overun and all your classified info was on the pc then you could just hit the command so the enemy can not get everythign they need..

actually i've always wanted to do what they do in the movies. you know, use a big a$$ magnet and freak up the hdd

From my understading running a magnet over it will just format your HDD it wont really f00k it up.
