monitor refresh rates

I changed my monitor refresh rate to 160hz because in my ATI settings thing it says my monitor goes up to that much? ( I didn't even think this is possible but thats how it is for me right now) but on the OSD it says 75. But my mouse moves alotttt faster (with the 160hz setting) than it did when my refresh rate was at 75hz?? What gives?

I know my ATI card has a lot of different refresh rates, but I have my monitor set at the highest "factory" refresh rate which is 85 mhz.
