Been an AVG Free fan for 2 years now and have had no issues since. Windows defender does a good job for my needs but adware and spybot would help in those feilds.

Just noticed ZA, thats a firewal ap as well....hmm a replacement for that is tough. Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall?

I have heard of issues when pairing AVG with Vista, so if going the Vista route this might help:

Total Protection - Internet Security Suite

FYI for anybody else who has this, its because of a process linked to ZA 7 named "scanningprocess.exe" it supposedly takes about 70mb of your ram to run.

Esentially I read it scans something everything you run it, open it, delete it etc.

I found a way around it by disabling ZA on startup, then about 2-3 min later, start it back up and it'll run fine.
