i recently purchaced a secondhad game cube system and it came with a switch at the back of it . when i flip the switch it seems the language changes to chinnese can any one help me as to the functions of this chip and the type

Do you know if the system is modded in any way? Can you contact the previous owner?

It's apparently modified to some extent. Open it up and see what is printed on the added chip, then google for whatever you find.
