Via Xbox Live, Electronic Arts is offering "cheat codes" for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07--for a fee.

I swear...EA is continuing it's track record with me as a 'hated' company in the video game business...especially since the new generation of consoles has hit...

First, they strip the 'next gen' versions of it's game to bare minimums (EA Apologists need not comment...don't want to hear it, lol) compared to the current gen games...

They refuse to fix the numerous bugs in BF2

They leave out stadiums and uniforms in Madden/NCAA'07 and charge for them on XBOX Live (PS3 users will not be immune to this either, so don't bring that to me as well)

They charge for TRAINING VIDEOS on XBOX Live...

Now charging for 'cheat codes' with Tiger Woods '07...

This is getting ridiculous, of course this 'extra content' doesn't need to be purchased and I sure as heck won't be purchasing it anyways, but this stuff needs to stop. Stop intentionally 'gimping' your products to make more money after the game is initially purchased. Especially if said 'extra content' was included 'free' with previous versions of the game.

Ah... Titus, Titus, Titus... You forget that we live in a CAPITALIST society. People want to make money. Other people like to buy stupid stuff.

You said it right = "doesn't need to be purchased" Right. It doesn't. They are cheats. For lazy people.

Remember the whole GRAW fiasco when the cheat codes came out and people could still unlock the achievements? Lots of people complaining about really earning VS cheating to get the hard levels beaten. This, to my knowledge, won't unlock any acheivements just will take away the learning curve of having to build up a character or own everything.

In summary, I feel that EA is doing something that any huge friggin' company would do: squeeze the last bit of money out of people. The only way they will stop doing this is if people stop buying it. Supply and demand.

Helluva first post. Hope I didn't incorrectly spell something...

Welcome! Finally, you stopped lurking around actually made a post .

And I know its a capitalistic country and all. It just seems...very....wrong...

I didn't read all into the situation and noticed that you can still earn each 'code/cheat' by playing the game (except the 'Super Tiger' character which is only available through purchase).

My main point with it, is that if enough people buy it...we may start seeing more and more Gran TurismoHD games...you pay for a download service which you have to continue to pay for more in order to get the 'full experience' of the game.

I just don't think it's right that companies are 'gimping' their games specifically for this new generation of gaming.

Oh well, at least I have the sense to know that I don't have to buy this stuff.

Right, I agree. If companies start "gimping" their games, something is wrong. Its like McDonalds charging you $1.25 for fries... but an extra 50 cents for the actual potatoes fried in peanut oil.

Right now I think (*hope*) EA is just seeing what people will pay for and make future decisions upon that. I would loathe the gaming industry if I paid $60 for the opportunity to download additional content at 5 bucks a pop.

I think we are on the same page and are fearful of the same things. Nuff said on my part. What other opinions are there about the Tiger 07 download content?

(I personally dislike it but understand the business move. It's smart business wise, but when will the "pay for extra stuff" become a poor business decision? IE, when will we stop buying all the crap they put up for sale?)
