Hmm... wasn't it supposed to be hardware enabled backwards compatiblility not software based like the XBOX360...?

Everyday seems like there is new ligth shed on the PS3 that makes it seem not the behemoth over the 360 that everyone makes it out to be.

Still full backwards compatability for both ps1 games and ps2 games vs the 360's backwards compatability for only selective titles does says something big for those that dont feel like calling microsft every other game they buy because they sold their old system for the 360.

We'll see M_T we'll see.

Also, we dont' know how many games the following pertains to

Sony has already pledged that all PS2 games which adhered to the company's TRC (technical requirements checklist) will be playable on the PS3

that could be the same excuse Microsoft got. But, i'm telling you now....without a dedicated onboard 'PS2/PS1' chip, you're not going to get full BC. Same thing with the 360. Lots of games 'run' on it, but that doesn't necessarily mean they run well.

Of course, I really don't think BC is that big of a deal for the PS2, 360, or PS3....once a good chunk of games come out (like now for the 360) I don't play the old games anymore. And, if I really really wanted to, I'd just pull out my old systems.

Oh well. I was just under the impression that the PS3 was goign to have embedded chips to enable its BC, ala the PS2...however, it looks like I was wrong.
