Default X360: Xbox 360 to Get CPU Improvement

Microsoft has signed up Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing to provide 65 nanometer Silicion on Insulator tech for the 360, which may reduce heat production in the system's CPU.

Wow, this little tiny bit of news (which it is...) seems to be getting a lot of press on message boards and blog sites across the world. Good lord, people easily forget past consoles.

As I've state in other threads, I'll do it here. This 'improvement' will not affect the power the XBOX360 is able to produce one bit. The only thing it will improve is the heat output and the overall cost of developing the system. There will not be an 'upgrade,' the system will not become more poewrful with this.

There are tons of people that are 'pissed' about this that bought a launch system. Am I mad? No, we won't see these systems until around Q1 2007 a good one year and a few months after the XBOX360 was released.

This is normal, the XBOX wen through 8 revisions in its lifetime, the PS1 I believe went through around the same amount, and the PS2 I believe had 14 different revisions (not including the new slim design).

Again, this is normal. I'd be more upset at Nintendo for redesigning the Nintendo DS (with the DS Lite) just over a year after the DS was released. That's a major upgrade. This 'upgrade' however for the XBOX360 is not 'major' by any stretch of the means.
