| Imagine that...A proprietary video format that makes the consumer choose between a bare-bones movie release and the 'full version' with all special features on the standard video format (DVD). Difference in price...roughly 5 dollars...on the day the movie is released...about a dollar or two. UMD is a dying video format...it never had a chance... | ||

| Thats why I think that if Microsoft makes a portable gaming system (which I don't believe they will and hope they don't do) it be made to use full-size DVDs and play XBOX DVD games. Ala the horrible Sega Nomad. Sure, it'd be a bit bigger, but who cares. Things are getting too 'small' now anyways ![]() This is America for goodness sakes! We like it bigger and powerful! | ||

| To be fair, Betamax is by far more superior to the VHS format in terms of quality; however, it was just that Sony was being anal (no....really?) about releasing the technology to other companies for their tape players. That's why Betamax failed. However, many television studios still utilize the Betamax format. Sony....when will they learn? Now, the latest battle is over Blu-Ray technology, which I'm going to predict that they will lose. The thing about UMD movies is that the movies are the same cost as the DVD. Hello? I'm going to pay $20 to watch Office Space on a three inch screen or am I going to spend $20 to watch Office Space on my HDTV? Mr. Rob? Uh, yeah, I'm going to go with spending $20 on Office Space to watch it on my HDTV. BINGO!!! | ||
