| As devout of a Christian I am (sometimes less than I wish). I'd have to say that I really don't like the idea of a videogame based on Christian doctrine. The last thing the Christian foundation as a whole needs is some holier than thou' mascot trotting around firing "Smite bolts" at evil-doers and foiling the treachery of the 'bad-guy' possessed by the Devil or what not.
I am strictly against the "selling" of the Bible. Which is one of the many reasons why I truly disliked Mel Gibson' "Passion of the Christ" (that and its almost entirely based off the diary of a crazy Catholic nun...not the bible...).
I don't agree with the action of offering any sort of biblical material for any amount of money. I don't feel that Jesus himself would agree to it, and I don't think we should do it.
Instead, why don't parents instill in their children what is make believe and what is real? Isn't that what this is essentially centered in, that parents (and those who think they are parents..but are not...) believe that little Johnny, and sweet Susie are being brainwashed by the games they play and will become crazed killers? Why not have the strength to say "No." You can't play your games today. Go outside, climb a tree, play with Scotty down the street in a game of hide-and-seek, have a bike race, build a fort, just have fun.
You know what else they can do? How about actually teaching the child about the Bible (and learning it yourself) instead of relying on the beliefs/ethics/morals of a game developer or movie producer?
I just wish parents took more responsibility in the raising of their children, and didn't label videogames as a scape-goat to a child's bad behavior or potential behavior. |
