Hewlett-Packard, the second-largest computer manufacturer in the U.S., has opted to drop exclusive support for Sony's Blu-ray format, and adopt
HD DVD as well.

HP also required that the BDA approve Mandatory Managed Copy, a technology which allows consumers to make copies of video content. That technology was adopted.
"By joining the HD DVD Promotions Group and continuing work with the Blu-ray Disc Association, HP will be in a better position to assess true development costs and, ultimately, provide the best and most affordable solution for consumers," said Maureen Weber, general manager, Prsonal Storage Business, HP.
