I've had many names in my long and illustrious gaming career, some puns on my name, some related to rpg characters or spirit animal (such as Lord Naga, or whatever)...

My current name is pretty simple, I wanted to work in the gaming & IT industries and I needed something bilingual. So I grabbed some latin words since they'd work in both french and english. Enigma & machine, no fuss no muss and both aspects present. It's a bit long though, oh well, it's now my registered company name so you can't use it, nyah.

I like it, even though most people I know read it as "enigmamachine", it doesn't really scare foes and make them quake in their boots.

My grandson's name is Farrow.

At the time I was looking for a game name I heard him telling grandma he was a decendent
of the Pharaohs of Egypt and the spelling was diffrent because when his ancestors
moved out of Egypt they had to spell the name from the new alphabet.

LOL I just about pissed my self when I heard that.

So Pharaoh became my new handle.

And I worked in Egypt for 6 months.
Touring the pyramids was an awsome trip.

thedemonxanth. It's pretty much ripped right from Piers Anthony's Xanth series. Xanth is an all powerful demon who mostly just wants to be left alone and who's residual magic seeping out of him is enough to imbue the entire land with magic. I'm nice and quiet until people bother me, then I blink them out of existance.

Well, my Handle is consistently Flapjack_Peso. To be honest I really have no clue as to how this happened. I remember teh night I was gifted this name. It was done by Vertical_Zero at a LAN we were having at his house early in highschool. I was trying to come up with a new handle as the one I had been using was getting old and just didnt "feel" right to me. Vert popped this joyous wonder of a name out of the blue and it has stuck ever since. I am a quarter Mexican, so i think that is where he pulled the "Peso" from, the "Flapjack" however remains a mystery.

Flapjack Peso is one name that if it is EVER taken before me in ANYTHING I jsut dont know what I will do, I honestly think the world would end if someone else managed to come up with a name as freakishly ridiculous as Flapjack Peso......

I was writing a short story a few years ago and one of the character names I had in it was Meta Tinara. I just transferred the name to gaming and have used it ever since.

The sad part is how common the name "Meta" is. I've been trying to get a new handle for myself, but just feel right with Meta. And with all imposters!

I forget my early gaming life, but;

All started on the Tribes Demo years back when it first came out. I forget what names I used, but the one I remember is 'Ace Ventura', obviously after Jim Carey's movie 'Ace Ventura Pet Detective' (was my favorite one back then). Had played for a few months with the AAOD mod (think that was it), had voice clips from him, blahblahblah.

Someone from a clan asked me if I wanted to join them, I did. Clan's tag was [DI], and [DI]AceVentura was obviously too big, so I just cut it to [DI]Ace. Eventually I left the clan, joined another big one called DAOW. Clan had 4 different ranks, each with a different tag, and my tag was {)DAOW(}, hence taking on the name of {)DAOW(}Ace.

Time goes on, someone poses as me and tries to get me banned from the guild (I was a pretty good player then, was hated a bit due to it). Guild almost falls for it, balhhbal, I come in and take action (think I was sleeping late that day), they realize someone's trying to pose as me, they take care of it. If I remember correctly it was a lower ranked clan member, but anyway.

More time goes on, clan gets bigger (had a big website the entire time too), I was the top player of the rank I was in, and therefore 2 positions below co-leader. Clan had a competition, to get into the newly formed elite ranks, which held the tag EDA^. About 7 people made the cut, out of around 48, I was one of them, EDA^Ace. Due to my position in the normal ranks, after getting into the elite ranks, they made me one position below co-leader.

Half a year goes by, clan starts breaking up. After about 1½ years, it was just me, the leader, and one of the co-leaders. Talked for a while, eventually all broke contact and never saw them again.

Moved onto other games, one was Diablo 2, had my account name as {)DAOW(}Ace / EDA^Ace before Blizzard made that change to not allow symbols.

Due to things not allowing symbols, I had to either use DAOWAce or EDAAce, and obviously EDAAce doesn't look so good, so I stuck with DAOWAce, and I use it EVERYWHERE I go, and still do today.

DI = Death Inferno.
DAOW = Dark Angels Of War.
EDA = Elite Dark Angels.

Sorry for how long it is, I've never really typed it out in full before. ^_^

Wow, now that was a pretty interesting story. The name really evolved into what it is today.

When I was in high school, I had a friend that gave me a stuffed penguin because "I walk and look like a penguin." I disagreed, but the name stuck so I'm now the Penguin Lord, since most systems only allowed eight characters in a user name, I shortened it to PengLord.

...and you all probably thought it was a linux reference.

Put all 20 entrant names into a hat, and had my daughter pull out the winner.
