Question Game Mods

When you buy a game and it starts to get a bit stale I like to download some of the full game mods to give it new life. Gives me more bang for my gaming buck. Which brings me to the new poll question.

I'll generally start out w/a partial game mod first, both to see how the game reacts to being modded, and to generally get a feel for how well a modder does putting their addition together. You know, drop in a ship here, a mini-pack of missions there, a character skin somewhere else.

I won't do a full game mod unless it's by someone who I've already downloaded some of their other mods that have worked well for me. Another good resource is the people who are on the ball enough to write a 'modding guide' (that works and can be easily followed) for some aspect or multiple aspects of a game, those are the people who I'll trust to download and try some of their full game mods.

Yes I like to mod the hell out of them. You should see a typical game of Command and Conquer Zero Hour that I play. You wont recognize much from the original!

Hell yes. I Especially get the UT series each time since people mod the hell out of the game . Plus UT was made for mods. Other games like Doom3 and Fear are cool too, I remember there was a mod that put a flashlight on everygun for doom. It wasnt as bright as the regular flashlight, but hell it was better than the dark!

And GTA:SA, theres a bunch of mods and mods you can do yourself with it. Just open up Handling.cfg (I think, dont quote me on it though) and edit away! The only problem is, if you make something too fast, the game will crash or the car wont exsist at all! (which is something I did with the go cart...opps)

Some mods are better than the original game. Take Desert Combat, the Battlefield 1942 mod. It was so good that the team was hired by DICE to help work on Battlefield 2.

I'm a mod monkey. I'll play any kind of mod - sometimes for just a few minutes (if it stinks) or sometimes it takes over my life (read: Enemy Territory: Fortress, Desert Combat for BF1942, Last Man Standing for Doom 3, etc...).

Mods are the coolest things since Spectrum.

I'm glad I spend so much time on forums. I could have missed this but nope, I have seen this. Prepare to have this quote used too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, a beautiful example of a North American on the other side of a great sarchasm: the gap between you and those who simply don't get it.

And Vert whips out the sarchasm ... I love that quote -- it's one of my away messages.

Ah, sarchasm. It was only a matter of time until it arrived here.

Meta, did you find the water?
