Question Game Ratings

With all the discussion in the last 6 months over game ratings *cough Hot Coffee cough*, I am curious just how many people even notice the ESRB on the box of the game they are buying. Of course if you are a minor who has to have a parent buy the game, do your parents care about the ESRB?

Nope can't say that I do. I'm allowed to buy any game (by law, not by wife ) I want. I don't care about ratings. If it looks fun, whether it be E for Everyone or Adults Only, I'll play it.

I find it funny that they changed the rating of San Andreas over a 3rd party tool that unlocked hidden material. 90% of the people that bought that game

A) Don't have a PC
B) Had a PS2
C) Wouldn't know how to access it regardless

I'm wondering why all the noise is being made NOW, being that there have been countless 'nude mods' for every game that's featured a female in a leading role (or not leading role).

Then, they change the rating on Oblivion because of 3rd party mod to the game that allows a female main character to run around with no bra or panties...

So, by this thinking, once someone makes a Lara Craft nudie mod version 100, are they going to change that rating as well?

Ditto NCXCStud.

One interesting note. Prior to Oblivion, _every_ game from Elder Scrolls: Arena to Morrowind, there was no need for a mod, just don't wear anything and the main character will be as bare as they want to be. This is why I see the Oblivion controversy as laughable.

I don't pay attention; I'm also well into my 30's and the only one who'll be playing the game. If i was buying the game for a youngster (niece, nephew, etc.), then i'd definitely look at the rating (as well as consult with the parents).

I think that the general age of most of us on this site is the deciding factor of this question being answered "NO". Most of us are of age and most of us don't have kids to worry about playing the bad games. If I had kids I would look at the rating I suppose. Otherwise I could careless.
