How Many Cheat?

Continuing the theme, I am curious what the impression is of most gamers.

I honestly don't think i've encountered it since i played diablo and diablo2 online (long ago). I picked 5% because that's the lowest number on the poll. Also, i might be a bit sheltered by the servers that i frequent for HL2 DM: they run AC and have a 0 tolerence policy for cheating (and are otherwise really nice places for me to get my ass handed to me

).

Dunno, it's my impression that most admins try to run clean servers/games, but there are those gamers who either find exploits and then utilize them / publicize them, or actively troll for servers that aren't as watched/moderated so they can cheat to their heart's content. I go w/10%.

it also depends on what you consider cheating. in CoH, is it cheating to use the tools that the developers gave you to be able to just sit in a mish and take damage to get more badges? or is it only cheating when third party tools, exploits, or bugs used?

if any third party tool is considered cheating, then i would have to say around 75% or more players on CoH are cheating since the majority of people have vidiotmap's map pack installed.

This is kinda a tough one to answerr because not everyone considers cheating the same.
Some consider editing a config file (such as in any game that uses the Quake III engine) cheating where others do not.
If this is also considered cheating, then I would say 50% or better, if not then that percentage would be much lower.

This is kinda surprising that many people believe that there are good people in the world (mostly). However, in today's gaming world, it's simply a matter of time before a cheater will get caught and get the boot. Don't know why anyone would want to cheat, though, with moving targets like me out there.

I don't so much think that the world is full of good folks; i just don't think that i've been recently exposed to a lot of gamers that cheat (at least not blatanlty).

A really good point has been brought up: what constitutes cheating? If it's something as innocuous as using vidiotmaps in CoH, then i'm guilty as charged and the number that i chose in the poll would have to get waaayyy increased.

I only plugged in the 25% because it is a standard guess.
I don't play online games so have no idea how anyone could cheat at such an adventure.
