Game Servers

When you're looking in the game browser for a server to join, what do you look for? :smile:

I mainly look to ping as my reasons to initially joining a server.

I also look at the map thats being played as well.

Its kind of a mixed bag really. I look for all the stuff up there... the only "other" i can think of is whether its a anti-cheat server or not. If its not, i don't play, i move on.

Same for me Stud. Got to have AC, and a decent ping. Then I usually do a list:
gametype, map, players, etc. :biggergri

Don't really play online servers myself, mainly set up games on the LAN here for local play. (So when I snipe someone, I can also hit them upside the head w/a Nerf ball)

If it's not cheat protected, i don't play on it. Foremost (after AC) i look at ping, after that i look at population, and then map. I'll actually go for a server that has a higher ping if it's more populated (no sense having a great connection if i'm playing in a ghost town).

I chose the "other" option because, for me, it's a toss up over ping and population. I have a few favorite servers for HL2 DM that i go to regardless of whether or not there are better pings ( i really like the way that the servers are run, and the folks who run them).

I go for all that and i like servers that are unique w/ a lot of mods. I also like servers w/ diffrent skill levels of players (mix between n00b and pro). :angrygame

At first, it's a colaboration of all (ping, gametype, etc.) but once I find a good server, I mark it and stick with it.

I sort by the ping and look at the number of players.. In an FPS, usually under 5. I don't like crowded servers and usually expect the number to rise a few ppl once I'm in.
