Excellent poll question Foe. I do not download demo's. I used to back in the day but now my computer is clean as a whistle. It used to be full of demo's of this and that and that lead to nothing but trouble, Many demo's anymore are full of spyware and other 3rd party BS. This will be interesting to see what others do?

No. Main reason before was that I was on dialup, and wasn't going to get away w/tying up the lines.

Now, I just wait and get the game itself and be done w/it. What I will download is game screenshots/movies/etc....

I'm more picky on which ones I download anymore. Used to be I would download all the new demos to test the game, and see if it had potential.

Now though so many have hidden software in the demos that can not only cause problems, but are sometimes very complicated to remove.

Even for the ones I do download, I usually wait a day or two after release for install to see what kinds of problems people are having.

FEAR is one that I was speaking of indirectly.

Unfortunaely, that demo had SecuROM that would install on your PC. People were having problems getting FEAR to launch correctly and/or crashing/hard locking, and authentication errors. Eventually thay released a patch to fix it, but people still had issues.

I download demos for games that looks interesting to me, and usually uninstall them after playing through them a couple of times.

I think the last demo I DL'ed was for FEAR, because I just wanted to try the multi-player beta. Oh, and the Serious Sam 2 demo, because that one looked damn fun. Other than that, no I don't really download demos.
