Hey all

right now i have Mushkin! 2400 (300mhz) and i right now i have it OCed humming away at 302mhz.. i know i have hit this rams limit i got this ram about 2 years ago.. well i want to see if i can get more then 2.300 out of my XP 2400 so here comes the question


if i get something like kingston or Corsair memory ( if i go for 512 I want to do Dual channel) it would be 2 256mb sticks at
85.00 for 1 stick!!

i could buy some generic memory and get 1GB for 130.00 (2 512 sticks)


now i would never think of buying cheapo memory but my logic of thinking is that the bus on this cpu is 266mhz right now with normal mushkin! memory i got it to hold at its spced 300mhz if i just got some cheap memory dose anybody think i would have much trouble getting it to hold at say 320mhz or maybe 350mhz

I think you'd get better performance out of the Corsair and definetly more overclocking if the RAM is hindering you. But before you buy, try raising the CAS latency. Sometimes this will allow for increased stability at higher clock speeds if the RAM is whats holding you back.

What Motherboard do you have? what is the max FSB it supports? Generic is not gonna save you any money if it doesn't do what you want it too.
You could try Geil, it's a good combination of price, overclockability, and the timings are pretty decent. Alot of people use GeIL Golden Dragon Dual Channel DDR 512MB(2x256MB) 400MHz Model GD3200 for 114$ or the PC3500 for 118$ if you wanna go past 430FSB someday. i have an asus mother board N7N8X delux that supports 400fsb

i dont want to go to a 430fsb right now nor thats not what i was asking


alls i was asking is i have 300mhz ram right now alls i need is a bit of head room i dont want to go sink all that cash into "the best of the best" memory and only get 11 more mhz out of my fsb that would upset me and that would make my girl want to tear off my head.. i dont have over 200.00 to put into memory right now

This guy has been selling for months at the AMDMB forums and last I read the thread was 58 pages long with all positive comments about the ram and the seller!

I have bought from him, and received my memory in 4 days (and it had to cross the border!).

It is not Corsair ....... but it is excellent, very overclockable, memory for folks on a budget!
