Default 4-Barb Bay Res

I appologize if this has been discussed before.
Consider this: A White Water and a 4-Barb Bay Res.
Could the two outlets on the water block be returned directly to the bay res rather than "Y" to a sinlge run to the res? Any benifits? Also, consider this block and a GPU block, could the WB discharge one lead to the res and the other to the GPU block before it leads to the res? I'm sure this would work but I'm looking at the performance aspect. (3-barb setup...one would be plugged on the res)

You could run 2 lines back to the reservior, and that would lessen any backpressure there might be...
However to run 1 line back to the res and one line to another block, might cause havoc.
The flow is going to travel the path of least resistance. I would think unless you could be certain of equal backpressure on each of the outlets on that block, your cooling won't be optomized.
A "Y" after the block and a single line to theGPU block would be OK
Alot would have to do with the specs on the rest of the cooling system

I think you'd probably be better off running the gpu block in series before the cpu block. Then the double lines to the res. Best of both worlds. Flow remains high and back pressure is lowered.

I'm not a fan of splitting the flow either with wyes or manifolds. I've tried it. The flow is slowed to the blocks. Just by adding another connector the flow is slowed. Yet the overall heat load remains the same with less flow through each block. Better to run in series and keep a good flow rate. After a system has reached a stable point (35-40 min.) any advantage of component order or line splitting completely disappears.

Wow! I'm glad I came here. Great responses!
The GPU>CPU solution seems to be perfect.
AntiM....I would take it that your last sentence above would have to do with the concern for GPU heat dissipation carrying over to the CPU? Thanks again for the schooling all. This is getting really exciting for me

Yep. I've seen forum arguments that go on for weeks about what order to put components in. The fact is, after about 40 minutes running time, it makes absolutely no difference.

I usually recommend putting components in a order that makes sense in their individual case. Keeping tubing runs short and smooth and avoiding unnecessary elbows and connectors.
