Default Antec Lanboy Setup

Greets!
I'm gonna take the WC plunge and have done exhaustive research on the matter. I know what I want as far as parts go.
White Water Block
Hydor L30
BayRes
To be different in my newbiness, I'm not gonna ask for an opinion on the parts but instead ask for a creative opinion on mounting of the rad in the LanBoy case. Space is at a minimum and I'd like a general idea from veterans on placement in this box for optimal performance before I go modding this case. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

putwig,
That's just it, in trying to finish the parts list, I am stuck on choosing a rad. I don't want a 80mm deal if I don't have to. I kinda have my eye on the Dtek Pro-Combo. I was thinking about blowin a hole on the mobo wall right next to the mobo. There seems to be plenty of room next to the drive bays. I've got 9" from the back wall to the side of the 3 1/2" bays. By the way, thanks for the reply!

In considering the size of the case and the fact that not a lot of tubing will be used versus a full sized tower, do u think a L30 is overkill?

First off I do not want to step on Masta Put, but I have the Dtek pro core and I like it a lot. Except that is is REALLY big. I had mid size case similar to the
Lanboy and it really wouldn;t fit. I had it mounted on an L-braket attached to the back of the case. I recently bought a new full size tower case and i still have it on the outside and am going to install L-brackets on this also. I have found that mounting the Rad on the outside helps with overall case temps and cools quicker to ambient. Unless you have to mount it inside the lanboy you wil probably have to get rid part of the lower drive cage or figure something out on putting it in the top of the case and make a blowhole. Like I said if i were you I would go with the Pro Core rad and that comes with a shroud for a 120 mm fan and then gfo to this site and buy one of these. Zennzzo much thanx for pointing me to these. 125cfm !! Anyways I know that putwig would agree with me there that if you can mount it on the outside or in the back, then do so.

Good luck with water cooling

By the way, an L30 should be fine. Tha leaves you with the option of cooling your gpu or northy in the future.

I hear what your saying Dudley....Seeing how this is a mobile solution, I was going to try and keep the rad inside. But realizing that space is an issue I can see the point. My concern is about the PSU heat getting exhausted and then sucked up by the rad if placed in the rear. May or may not be much of an issue. Top blow-hole is a no can do because of room. I can take out the removeable 3 1/2' rack and remove the tray that holds it (only a few rivets). Would putting the rad down front with two 80mm intakes be sufficient if I insist on keeping it internal? Thanks for your time.

I dont know much about watercooling but dont you want to leave a WC unite pretty much alone because the more you move it the more chance of spilling water onto your things but maybe it will work out fine. Tell me if im wrong

I think your best spot would be low in front like you just said. But I'd cut the front to just under the size of the radiator. Leave just enough to attach it. And put a 120 fan on the back side of the radiator.

You could also duct it out the mobo side panel if heating your case is a concern. Alternatively, you might want to consider a door fan or a blow hole for additional cooling.

Ok, only you know how much space you have in the case.

If you want it all internal:

Measure before you buy anything. I have even gone so far as to make carboard mock ups of components to test fit.

Looks to me like you could scrap the 3 1/2" drive cage altogether. Place your HDD and bayres in 2 of the 5 1/4" bays, which leaves space for two optical drives.

Looks to me like you could fit the Dtek Pro core or BIX in the bottom front with a shroud and a 120mm fan (sucking air in).

If those are too tight, DTek has a new smaller heater core:

The JR120 (5.5"W x 6.38"H X 2"Thick) found here

In that small case with only the White Water Block, I would probably opt for the L20 over the L30. Consider bolting it to the front bottom of the mobo tray, or on the floor just in front of the PCI cards.

Yeah I agree, I would if you can take the 3.5 drive cage out and mount it down in front with a 120 mm fan that i showed you sucking air in and get another 120mm fan and put on the other side pushing air through. Push/Pull configuration. If you do want to put it internally then that wouyld be the best spot. As far as the L30 this pump is a little overkill for what you are wanting to do but as I said you have the option of cooling your gpu or northy. I have made the mistake of getting an L20 and now I need an L30 or Danner 250, because I want to cool my Vid card. Anyways if you do decide to go for the L30 look at the DAnner pond pumps. They are a little cheaper and I have heard wonderful things abou them. That is what I am getting next.
Good Luck, 2 cents

Everyone has been very helpful. I had ideas but this helped me reinforce the plan. I will get a GPU block as well and keep the L30 unless the L20 can handle both. I will mount the rad in front with ducting out the mobo wall. I will blow a hole in the side window and with the rear 80mm, I will have some good exhaust. I will definately measure before I buy and start hacking into this box. I'll get some pics up when it's done. I think it will be interesting to see this in such a small case. Thanks again.

The dual 80mm rad option sounds good. Put them in series or do a rad1>gpu>rad2>cpu setup. This would be interesting considering my other post about the white water and the dual outlets to a 4-barb res. Interesting! Would I get the same benifit as using the Dtek Pro?

Dtek Pro will still have an advantage over two mini's. But it's a viable option. I've got two rads in my current set-up that works very well. Pump > black ice micro > gpu > black ice xtreme > cpu > res > pump.
