| At LEAST once every 6 months. If you introduce additives which kill bacteria and prevent corrosion you can probably hold out for 6 months without too much trouble. Just use common sense and periodically check your system for buildup. (It helps to have clear acrylic waterblocks for this and not too much dye) | ||

| What kit? I thin most would agree that distilled or deionized water + one of these additives would probably be optimal: http://www.wc101.com/reviews/Additives/ but some people get really creative by mixing/matching some windshield washer fluid, antifreeze, alcohol, tap water, etc... As long it can transfer heat and is in liquid phase at room temperature you can use it, but it would usually just be for bragging rights or just to say that they did it. | http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/fro...ml?id=P3JqHMjV If its this stuff it should work just fine, excpet I don't see on the list of functions that it prevents corrosion, which should be a key feature for any additive. I'll try to find out real quick but if not I'd suggest getting one of the coolants in the link of my last post. If it does prevent corrosion just mix it like it tells you....at one bottle per liter of water. | ||

| If your set-up came with hydrox...I'd switch. If it came with Zerex racing coolant. I'd stay with that. I've read some less than flattering things about Hydrox. Common antifreeze will do the job as well as anything. Edit: 10 bucks to treat a quart? Definitely ditch the Hydrox. That's ridiculous. | ||

| LOL. Forgot that chemistry from back in high school....oxidation is the reaction that causes the corrosion so it should work well enough. Probably not the best like Antim said but it'll work....and its UV reactive. If you have this stuff just change your water at shorter intervals. | ||

| It weird....different sites that you go to have different mixture ratios. Here it says a bottle for 1 liter: http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/fro...ml?id=P3JqHMjV http://www.crazypc.com/Merchant2/mer...duct_Code=9355 Here it says a bottle treats several gallons: http://www.bestbyte.net/Product.cfm?...ID=18&Keyword= I would trust the crazypc and frozencpu links if i were you. Just use that stuff up and see how it performs. If you feel it isn't up to par just get some water wetter or zerex instead. | ||

| Purple Ice won't change the color of the water much. Neither is it the best anticorrosive. It and Water Wetter were both designed to work with antifreeze, not on there own. Water Wetter seems to have adequate anticorrosives on it's own, Purple Ice less so. I've used Zerex, but it's a little pricey. Right now my mix is back to Peak antifreeze and a little bit of Purple Ice. About 1 oz. per gallon of the purple ice. And about 4or 5 drops of Trace-line dyelite. And 95% distilled water. I've never had a hint or growth or corrosion in my sytem. | ||
