| Apex Techie I | Ok i have a koolance right now but i want to make a decent 1/2 tube high flow sweet system.. i am going to mod the koolance to put the stuff in it and use the koolance parts in a project system idea i have (i dont have the cash to buy a new nice looking case AND the watercooling parts and saving is not a word in my girl's vocaburlay )Ok i lack the 4 holes around my AMD CPU to mount a waterblock.. do they have things to clamp the waterblock to the 3 lugs on each side of the socket. and if they do what are they called? I was comming back from a lan party and on the long drive i had this idea... why not just strap a Pelt on to a Rad on the bottom side? i bet i can get 2 on there and i figure it would cool the water and if the pelt when south it would not turn the proc into a slight memory in my mind when the PC got hot what do you guys think thanks for your time as awlays Last edited by Rewind; 04-August-03 at 06:58 AM.. | |

| Yes...many waterblocks have tab mounted hold downs. Innovatek makes one othe the better ones. Pelts on the rad would be hard to implement. One, a pelt needs a lot of clamping pressure to work right. It would be hard to mount one on a radiator that way. Two, you still have to cool the hot side of the pelt. Even harder to implement mounted to the rad itself. Three, the thin wall of a radiator wouldn't offer a very good thermal mass and cooling wouldn't be very efficient. | ||

| Direct Cool Hoe | AntiM, got my vote there,Innovatech is definitely the Porche of blocks. If someone was to import the12mm what ever pitch to 1/2" hose barb, they'd sell tons more...and that lever system w/one thumbscrew is a hit! For the next best thing that I could find, is made stateside in Astoria Or. DangerDens copy of the 3-tab old down for 15.00,check 'em out here nice and sturdy looking. ![]() | |

| Direct Cool Hoe | I've never held those nice blocks in my sweatty palms before, but is there enough matierial to run a 1/4"TPT pipe tab down there, and then use the wider part of the threads on a shortened Barb? I have ground some fairly large TPT pipe taps down to get to the wider part of the thread cutting surfaces, Tapered them slightly and ground new relief ,to use on elbows that were welded in place and rusted on the boats. This way I could use the same elbow, and fit a slightly longer and wider threaded lenght of pipe. Hey, We got a new member, that I welcomed, that's in germany right now, I'll see if I can find the post. Said if he could help. Last edited by ZENNZZO; 05-August-03 at 12:49 PM.. | |

| Two problems I see. No way to dissasemble the block without borking it up. So no room to tap it. And the current threads are BSPP not BSPT. Parallel not tapered. And no extra room to go to a larger tap size. I've seen some guys at procooling just teflon tape the hell out of NPT fittings and screw 'em in. But I don't want to risk a block and comp on a fairly tenuous seal. http://www.eldonjames.com/ is the company I found that makes exactly what you'd need for 1/2" hose. Maybe I'll drop Scott at HighspeedPC a line. They don't sell to end-users. | ||
