| Apex Techie Wannabe | Well I got a little rough with my plexi res in my water cooled system earlier this week and now I'm toying with plans for a prettier system. Submersion cooling has caught my eye and after reading through DuckWarrior's article (and relevant forum thread) I like the prospect even more. I'm having trouble choosing a dielectric liquid tho. HFE is a bit too pricy, I'd also like to avoid anything hard to obtain (i.e. hazmat.) I want a cheap, nonconductive, clear, safe, residue free liquid with good thermal capacity... and a gold toilet while we're at it - Does such a thing exist (no, not the toilet)? My vague searches on google haven't yielded much so I'm hoping a chemistry major will strole through here Thanks | |

| His first post, maybe we should tell him about our own "JINX", and how it is not considered "Good Form" to use a name like an existing member. That being said, Welcome to Pimp Rig!!! I think if there was such a fluid, someone here would be using it, and I'd be signing up too! There may be something out there, but thats quite a wish list! | ||

| Speak with Duck. PURE (let me stress again PURE) mineral oil can do what you're talking about. But, you must take EXTREME care in keeping it pure, and you need to keep a way to cycle the fluid, so that it can dissipate the heat. Speak with Duck on this, he has a LOT more info on this subject. | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Yes I'd heard about pure mineral oil, I was hesitant because it seems like that would leave residue and/or leave it slicked if I took the components out. Sorry JINX for the name infringment, I'll do somethin 'bout it soon New nick request: CookieDoh Thanks | |
