Default decisions, decisions

I am putting together my " dream computer " atm, and of course I am trying to find the best. The problem is many reviews do not compare hardware that are acutally comparable to each other.

I just bought http://www.thermaltake.com/products/xaser3/v2000a.htm
as my case.

Now , since I am of course putting a liquid cooling system in, I am haveing a hard time finding the best radiator that fits into that case. Obviously a duel 120mm radiator is going to be out of the question. I am pulling all the hair out of my head trying to figure out which on is the BEST.

http://www.sharkacomputers.com/ininsinsinfa.html
or
http://www.hwlabs.com/products/blackicextreme.htm
or
http://www.hwlabs.com/products/blackicemicro2.htm

Does anyone have these, that can tell me how well it works ?

The best bang for the buck is go with ThermalTake's Aqua2 water cooling set. It has all you need and is designed for that case. and its only like $90 bucks. But it isn't the best cooling unit around. But it does get the job done.

Well, if you were to build your " dream computer " would you go with a kit (with good and not so good parts). Or would you buy the best hardware piece by piece ?

I've got both the Black Ice Extreme and the Black Ice Micro. The Extreme is a very good radiator, especially for the size. The Micro does an adequate job for a little radiator. Swiftech uses one just like it in one of their kits. If you did want a radiator the size of the Innovatek you'd be better off with the Black Ice Pro. It's all copper and should outperform the aluminum Innovatek by a good margin. And it's cheaper.

Xaser 3 is going to be a tough install for watercooling. The old style case you could just remove the bottom drive bay and have plenty of room. With that case it's hard to tell if that would be enough for a 120mm fan radiator. A Micro will fit on one of the rear exhaust fans with a little work. I got rid of the plastic fan holder there. Then drilled a few holes and used a 80x38 tornado fan. The 38 mm gives it enough clearance for the other fan and it's mount.

You could also go top mount with the BIX or Pro. My choice would be the BIX (Black Ice Extreme) if you can spare the drive space. Either low front or top mount. But if you don't plan to add a vga block or do any overclocking it would be overkill.

Thanx for the info. I kind of figured the Extreme was a better radiator, but I really wanted to make sure from people that acually use it. I was going to take out that dumb 6x hard drive bay anyhow.
Now all I have to do is wait for that Abit max3 motherboard to be shiped to the stores and im all set.

If you are going to remove both the 3.5 '' drive cages (read-dumb 6x HD cages) and mod the floppy cage, then a Dual 120mm radiator ''will'' fit.
Those Thermaltake cases used to be pretty-boy Antec Mids
and there is 12.75 '' of height, from the floor to the bottom of the 5.25'' bays and 7'' of width, side to side.
Most dualies are 11'' x 5'' overall.
at least 1'' of clearence, all sides.
Are you aware of the problems, that Tt, seems to be in denile of? Having to do with a miswired firewire port that is causing some components to burnout using that port. The article is here in the threads somewhere.Check it out before you use it.
Hope that gives you some more options...Have fun

yeah i agree with Xphobe if this is your dream machine i would buy a kit becasue its already a pain getting everything and making sure it works together and stuff.. later i would just upgrade the cooling needs when you get a better idea off how far you can push your chip and stuff

I thought "fire" wire was supposed to burn components

I heard MaXXpert makes a good water cooling system. FrozenCPU.com has a bunch of different water cooling components.

They mixed up the 12v and ground on the firewire header, any bus powered devices cease to exist when connected.

It's not a matter of rewireing, its on the circutboard
so if you don't want to burn the firewire stuff up you can option to burn the USB stuff instead...Ya gotta love options.
ThermalFake...now with "fry options",
And such a purdy-boy too!

If youre still looking for H2O Components i still like the www.DangerDen.com Setups.

I hate the whole concept of the Aqua2...Lets put he radiator in the middle of the case and cool the water with the hottest air possible...

Thx Zennzzo for the info, thats just the info i need to configure my cooling system.
Say hello to my new radiator
http://www.hwlabs.com/products/blackicextreme2.htm

And as for the ports, I thought it was a dumb idea to put them at the top of a tower anyhow. I was going to hook them up anyhow, but now il just keep them dead.
