i am an avid gamer and right now i have a koolance setup with a XP 2400@2250 and DDR 2400 memory (300mhz) well the reason i am asking for some input is..

i am about to get about 400.00 i think to spend on my PC or PC related things what would you do out of these things

1) ditch the gay 2400 memory and get some nice DDR400 corsair and try and get the 2400 higer? and spend the rest of the money on other things of the system


2) say screw you to the XP 2400 cpu and get a 2.4 p4 a 800mhz mobo and some decent memory so i can OC the p4 (better memory bandwitdh = better FramesPer Second)


3)Only get 512 of good memory sell the other 2400 DDR and make a homemade watercooling system and sell the koolance on ebay..


or whatelse would you guys do if you were me? right now i can run my games PRETTY good but alls i am after is to beable to crank the res to a decent setting (OCed video card) and dont have to worry about video lag.. lag in video games makes me very very uphappy (when its the system) and i want to make double sure that when doom 3 and half life 2 finally get here when my friends play the game at my house they cream there pants

K, here goes.

1. Sell soul to Satan.

2. With cash from soul, buy 3200+ system amd 5900, and whatever other stuff you want.

3. Have fun till Satan collects his debt.

Seriously, I think your memory needs upgrading, the base rig is just fine, and look at your video card. Check MaxPC for their write-up on HL2, to see where yours stacks up.

1. Sell your soul not to Satan, but the Queen of the Abyss herself -Takhisis

2. Ditch the AMD, and get a P4 2.4GHz card that you can OC to at least 3.2GHz with stock cooling.

3. Get better memory to help you OC'ing

4. Save the 400.00 till you get enough money to buy what you want, then stuff will be even cheaper

5. Sell everything, and go out and open up a Baywatch DVD black market

you could wait and buy something 64 bit. or buy that P4

Or if you don't think you could fetch much for your soul you could always go with selling your body. That way its only temp and you can do it mulitple times rather than a one time soul deal. hehe j/k

Go with the P4, mobo, everything else can be upgraded around that later on.

you could always get more for your money and get a super overclockable XP1700 for about 65 bucks, and oc it to an XP3000 or higher. a 100dollar NF7-S mobo would go nicly with that Processor

i think with the p4 faster/ better memory and a decent 800mhz bus motherboard i am going to be over 400


i think i am just going to get 1GB (dual channel) nice fast memory and ready this 2400XP to meet its Max MHZ

Just send "me" the money I'll do all the research and make sure it's gonna be to your liking then I'll send you the results and you'll be happy! I'd go mobo mem and vid card in that order. Forget the 400 clam figure , it's not the first or the last pile of dough you'll be putting in the great black computer hole...word

RAM, no doubt. Then get a good mobo with it. That'll be the best thing I think you could do

Mobo, mem and video card sounds good too...but get the best MB with the most expandibility

yea, those last few suggestions are starting to feel like better decisions

i have a A7N8X DELUX so i think i am ok with the mobo for a bit but memory is something i am going to get..

right now in 3D2001 in the 4th game i can get 100fps so i think my video card is ok too

yeah if you look at his sig he has a 9700 pro
