| Apex Techie Wannabe | Opinion: TECS allow to cool the processor under ambient temperature, but who needs that? processors can work up to at least 60 ºC so I don't see the need to go below 0 ºC. But that's not the main reason: to move heat a Peltier cell needs, as rule of the thumb, to consume twice as much electricity as heat moves. So to move 50 W of heat you'll need around 100 W of electricity. An ordinary fan will consume around 3 W of electricity. I think it's not fair to the Earth, it's unecological, to spend so much energy to cool something you don't need it to be cold. The challenge: what about water cooling the processor without waterblock? Just put some shroud sitcked to it and some piping so that water touches the chip casing (without leaking, of course). I'm sure you'd get much colder temperatures than using the most sophisticated waterblock. As a plus you wouldn't need to make pressure on the processor so the motherboard would be without mechanical stress. I guess this challenge is only possible on Intel processors. http://www.eng.losconectados.com | |

| Direct Cool Hoe | I'll have to check it out in the rulz book, but some "road-killz" are classified as incedentals otherwise known as bi-catch and they don't quite have the same clout as say a clean "swerve-smash and impale on impact" shot, out of season of course! 'll get back to you on that one phishy-kudos on the 140+gals a month though, that's a "smoker" for sure, Bro | |
