| Apex Techie Wannabe | Hello, I have been looking at reviews, forums ... about the aquarius 2 from thermaltake. What I want to do: - Reduce the noise - keep a good WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) No or very few external part - Good cooling but I am not overclocking (but I might) What I have: XP2100+ with AMD fan Asus a7v333 Case without a lot of space : 110mm under DD 60mm betweem side and pci slot What I am thinking Aquarius : average cooling Fit in my case price is £65 no noise everything is in the box WC DIY Good Cooling Will not fit my case Price is similar I think low noise ( more fan noise ?) Need to find everything (may not be easy here UK) High End Air Cooler Cooling Similar than aquarius Air flow in the case more important (not sure it is good) price is £40-45 Noisier (Zalman is 32 db in normal mode, slk900 55db!) It seems to me that aquarius fits my demands better than the 2 other option. Could you tell me if I missed something THanks a lot | |

| On the Aquarious, I wouldnt if I were you, thier radiator is inside the case. Where all the hot air is, making more hot air, then recirculating that same hot air. Makes no sense to me at all. Youre better off going to www.dangerden.com and getting a setup there. If you want recommendations lemme know. | ||

| Im of the opnion that if you are going to do watercooling, it should be done right. I mean think of what you are risking.....all of your computer's internal compents. Your not gonna be OC....your cooling a 2100+ and just want better cooling that your AMD retail, you might want to consider sticking with a high-end retail HSF.... Now the SLK900 is not neccesaraly 55dB! it all depends on what fan you put on there. You also might want to consider a SLK-800 or SK-7 , and if you want quiet, try pairing those heatsinks with a YStech TMD fan or a medium flow Panaflo fan | ||

| If you want quiet the Aquarius will fill the bill. Definitely not good enough for overclocking though. For just a little more money you could build a much better system than the Aquarius. Check out what Cooltech has to offer for blocks. They make a couple of excellent blocks and you should be able to order locally where you're at. Take any good quality block. And pair it with a Danner Mag 2 pump and a Black Ice or Black Ice Micro (Micro is 80 mm form factor) and it will simply blow away an Aquarius. If you just want quiet and want to save money you might just pick up a Zalman CNPS7000-CU. Or an SLK-800 or SK-7and hook a high power fan up to a rheostat so you can dial it down when just surfing. And dial it up if you want to overclock. | ||

| For your situation, water cooling does not suit. If you are comfortable using a bolt on SLK-800: http://svc.com/thslsocob.html If you arent here is standard clip type: http://svc.com/therslsoc462.html This 48CFM variable fan from Y.S. Tech rocks, plus its only 36dB at a full 48CFM, so you could only imagine how quiet it would be on a lower setting. With this kind of cpu cooling, 30c-40c temps are easily attainable, 45c being a maximum load tempature. | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Thanks for all your answer. I don't know why but the price seems to be very different here compare to yours. Zalman 6500 = £47 SLK-800 = £45 + £5 (fan) Aquarius = £65 DangerDen = £160 I also look at DIY: black ice micro = £45 Pump 1048 = £40 AMD block = $60 -> Close from DangerDen. In your side SLK-800 = 37 + 8 $ Aquarius = 120$ DangerDen = 180$ I also found this review: http://www.pc-arena.net/Review_full.asp?ReviewID=184 it seems that the performance are similar between zalman 6000 and aquarius. Let me ask 2 question: 1) Is aquarius works ? (from reviews it seems but.... ) or will I get a wet and unusable computer.2) From my price list is it more interesting that what you said. I've just looked at the site and found Crossover WS-5 Mission II It is £87 with postage £115 how is it compared to the aquarius ? Thanks again Last edited by jujugb; 07-July-03 at 05:34 AM.. | |

| The aquarius works, and is a good quality set. It is very quiet. It has several draw backs: 1. temps worse than high end air cooler 2. odd tubing size (relative to the other major players), which makes upgrading or adding parts difficult. 3. weak pump (I think about 30 GPH if memory serves). This will not support any upgrades at all (like adding a GPU block etc.) I have only seen one review of the Crossover WS-5 Mission II (here at PR by GlitterKill), but based on that single review (from someone I know and trust) I would say it is a far superior kit! Here is the review: http://www.pcapex.com/modules.php?s=...icle&artid=135 | ||

| No set up is perfect. The Mission II lacks any info about pump stats. I have no clue what the pump out put is. The kit also uses goofy "toothed" quick connects that I don't particularily trust. Overall, I think it is superior performance wise to the Thermaltake kit. I would save an extra $50 bucks USD and get a DD or D-Tek set personally! | ||
