Question wat to use for coolant?

I recently bought an asetek water cooling system but i dont have coolant, should i just fill the whole system with prestone(anti-freeze) or mix it with water? and if i should mix it, why?

Wait for Specialblend or AntiM to turn up, they'll answer any question under the sun about coolant mixtures. If I remember correct, its something like 90% distilled water 10% anti-freeze...

But as I say, wait for the experts to turn up

There are plenty of coolants available for w/c systems, you don't have to mix your own.

Yea i think it was a 5:1 Mixture of Each, Unless the Antifreeze has water in it all ready. Also put a couple drops of algecide in the mix.

Antifreeze's main purpose is to reduce the freezing temperature of water, hence antifreeze. It's primarily made for cars, but when you mix it into your computer's water cooling system, it helps prevent corrosion and electrolysis(corrosive reaction between dissimilar metals).

The reason you mix it is because antifreeze by itself isn't a very good coolant at all, as water will absorb more heat than antifreeze. The ticket is to mix just a little bit with the water so that it can do it's job.

There are many pre-manufactured coolants that you can buy that are specifically made for computers.
Here are a few different Pre-mixes you can buy:
Fluid XP -$29.99
Corsair COOL -$11.99

I use 5-10% antifreeze, distilled water, a few drops of algaecide and a few drops of my UV dye.

Spectrum's got the "Anti's Approved" mix down. You can run as much as 25% antifreeze in distilled water without too much of a performance hit (about a degree C) and extend times between coolant changes.

I like to use 100% pure tears from the eyes of orphaned children. I call it my "overclock juice".

My personal preference right now is the PC Ice from Voyeurmods. Though in the past I have used the prestone/water mix with great results. I just like the fact that with PC Ice you don't have to worry about adding anything else, unless you want to put dye in it.
