I would CAUTION you not to use Dex-Cool unless you know there will be NO air in the system. Although Dex-Cool works better that regular green Anti-freeze, if you have air pockets in your system , Dex-Cool can and will form a sludge in your system. I cant tell you how long it takes but i know it does for a fact 100%. I worked for GM , and i cant tell you how many people came in wiht clogged heater cores, plugged T-stats etc etc. In every single case it was due to the Dex-cool reacting to the alunium and air in the system. Its a brown sludge and is VERY VERY thick and also VERY hard to clear out of a system once in it. There was an internal tech bullitain to all tech's and service managers a couple years back. If i can i will find the bullitin , but i remember it because, when a vehical came in with this problem shop time was 4.3hr's to do a complete cooling system flush with acitone/water mix, then neutralizer, then water. Thats one of the reasons GM started using the plastic pressure jugs in thier vehicals' , so that any air would stay in the jug and not create air pockets in any alunium parts.

| Apex Master Tech Apprentice | I agree about the Dex cool: IT looks like a good mix for an engine coolant, its anti-corrosive and the freezing point for a 50/50 mix is at -36.66667*C. Just add some biocide and a Pelt chiller. Here would be the flow chain for such a system: Radiator -> Pump -> TEC chiller -> CPU block -> GPU block(s) -> Resevoir -> Radiator EDIT: Dang, I didn't know about that problem HighTech-- thanks for the info. I was thinking of doing the same thing to my system, I am using Swiftech coolant right now, would it be safe to mix the two in about 50\50. The swiftech stuff is added to 2L of water. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

The Swiftech Coolant is an additive that you mix with distilled water to produce a coolant. It has non corrosive properties and prevents agley from growing.

Running plain old well/city water in ANY kind of cooling/water system will eventually cause some from of build up, wether it be calcium, alge , or some form of corrosion. Take apart a sink drain plumbing J trap and look at the inside of the pipe wether PVC or Tin/Alunium you wil see some form of corrosion/slime. Also "Hard Water" is more damaging to components. So , yes , you should put in some form of additive as stated in some of the above posts.
